As the second-most improved team in the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2009, the Idaho Vandals were rewarded with an invitation to the 13th annual Humanitarian Bowl versus the Bowling Green Falcons in nearby Boise on Wednesday afternoon.
Idaho, which defeated Southern Miss in this event back in 1998 as its only previous postseason endeavor, has made a remarkable comeback this season after posting a 1-11 mark in 2007 and just two wins in 12 opportunities last year. This time around, head coach Robb Akey got the squad off on the right foot with a 21-6 victory against New Mexico State in not only the season opener but the Western Athletic Conference opener as well.
